Research Assistant / Intern 2017 – 2018 Petroleum Engineering

We have an exciting research assistant / internship opportunity for a post-graduate student studying Petroleum Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, Geophysics, or Applied Mathematics at an accredited university with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. This research assistant / internship will be a continuous six-month program. Under direct supervision, successfully chosen student will intern as a member of the MindMesh Inc. engineering team.

Description

Under limited supervision, working on non-routine hydraulic fracturing research and numerical modeling projects with general instruction and advanced projects with detailed instructions, this assistant/ intern can expect to perform the following tasks:
  • Hydraulic fracturing research.
  • Model performance of hydraulic fracturing operations
  • Review hydraulic fracturing procedures for newly-drilled wells
  • Perform hydraulic fracturing modeling studies.
  • Help develop and test numerical routines and software.
  • Assist in the completion of non-routine and advanced tasks.
  • Apply knowledge of Geomechanics, FEA and CFD to analyze, investigate and resolve non-routine problems.
  • Create electronic spreadsheets, reports, records, diagrams and charts.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Additional tasks as required.
  • Desired software experience with Gopher, FracPro, ELFEN, Abaqus, Python, FOTRAN, C#.

Modeling and Simulation Engineer

Work location Houston, TX Must have work authorization.
Description
We are seeking an individual with a strong background in Finite Element analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Experience with finite element methods or finite volume methods is required. The candidate should have an excellent understanding of structural mechanics and / or fluid mechanics, heat transfer and mass transport. A knowledge of multi-physics is a plus.
  • The candidate will be working on diverse engineering design projects from multiple industries to support our clients.
  • Provide physical explanation and justification of results.
  • Coordinate with the customer ensuring all objectives are met.
  • Prepare written and verbal deliverables, reports and presentations for management and customer review.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of structural mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer (a major in structures and minor is fluids or vice versa is acceptable).
  • Background in numerical methods and engineering analysis.
  • Experience using any one of the programming languages like C, C++, MATLAB, Python.
  • Must be a permanent U.S resident or already have work authorization.
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Masters or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with specialty in structures and fluid dynamics or heat transfer.
  • 2-3 year’s experience in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2+ years’ experience performing non-linear and large deformation FEA analysis using commercial software like Abaqus, Ansys and LS-Dyna.
  • 2+ year’s experience performing CFD analysis using StarCCM+, ANSYS FLUENT etc.
  • Experience with Sledworks or Creo or other 3D CAD programs is a plus.
  • Ability to master new FEA & CFD software.

CAE Analyst

Work location Ohio, USA Responsibilities will include development of advanced simulation (CAE) techniques and material models for the crash safety engineering area. Work will include identification of improvement areas for CAE, and development/execution of an action plan to realize those improvements. Analyze various test data (specimen, coupon, and full-vehicle) and CAE data to identify accuracy differences and propose new solutions/methods. Coordinate various simulation/testing activities with outside groups/vendors. Communication of work through electronic (e-mail), written (PowerPoint, Word) and oral (meeting presentations) forms is required.

FEA Engineer-Meshing

MindMesh Inc. is seeking an Engineer/Analyst to develop high-fidelity finite element (FE) models, with emphasis on mesh generation, to perform structural crash and dynamic analyses on automobiles subjected to crash events. The person in this position will execute modeling and simulation methodologies using standard and advanced finite element analysis (FEA).

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent.
  • Candidates need to have 2+ years’ experience developing FE mesh using ANSA and at least 1+ year experience using LS-DYNA.
Knowledge Requirements:
